MAYA, you're a B-I-T-C-H, but I still love you!

I have been dropped into a pool of Maya this Summer quarter without a lifesaver. I'm drowning in the immense amount of knowledge and information that this software has to offer, but nonetheless the things that I can do in Maya leaves me dumbfounded each and every time, mouth open, drooling, the whole deal.

Currently I'm enrolled in 3 classes using Autodesk Maya.

*Camera and Lighting Techniques (pretty important and much needed information for any artist)
*3D Modeling (I decided to repeat the class since I didn't get as much out of it last time I took it)
*3D Special Effects (this one's the hardest, but gives me the most amount of satisfaction when my projects actually work)

I'll be posting image stills, Quicktimes, and other renders in this post as I progress in these classes. They all have different themes which will be explained alongside.

Happy viewing!

Lighting a room using numerous light sources, in this case I believe
I used 9 different lights

Rembrandt Lighting...on the left is an original Rembrandt painting, on the right is my attempt at lighting a character using the same technique.

In progress...Here is just little animation we did in Special Effects class. Those tires were meant to be dead fish...I'll post the finished one later

Here's a mushroom scene I modeled from scratch for 3D Modeling...I gave it some mood by using the skills I learned in Lighting class that same week (even though it wasn't required)...it's amazing how much each class relies on another to make an overall good looking scene/render/video

Just a few models I created for random projects!
